STILL Sweden invests in solar cells - and achieves self-sufficiency
STILL Sweden is taking a step forward in its long-term sustainability work and has been producing its own green electricity using solar panels since August. The installation, which consists of a total of 500 panels, means that the company's main building in Malmö is now completely self-sufficient.
The photovoltaic system is expected to produce an average of 179,000 kWh per year, which - is equivalent to driving an electric car around the world about 22 times - or charging 60 cars annually - and exceeds the company's total annual consumption. The system will generate electricity that will be used to charge forklifts, cars and various types of equipment.
“Our decision to invest in solar energy is fully in line with our sustainability efforts and represents another milestone in our journey towards more sustainable production. By using self-generatedour own green electricity, we will reduce our annual carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 89 tonnes," says Reke Salievski, CEO of STILL Sverige AB.
STILL actively works to reduce its environmental impact, for example, by developing products from recycled materials and using environmentally friendly production processes. By investing in solar cells, STILL Sweden is contributing to a more sustainable society.
